Job Description

You will contribute to the success of DPV Health by operating as a Speech Pathologist within our Pathway to Good Health program.

DPV Health, in collaboration with the Department of Health and DFFH, is expanding the existing Pathway to Good Health program (currently operating from the Broadmeadows and Mill Park sites) to provide targeted health services for vulnerable children and young people in Out of Home Care across Northern Metropolitan Melbourne LGA’s.

You will work within a Client Centred Framework and be responsible for providing timely, comprehensive speech pathology assessments, formulating health management plans and recommendations for children and young people residing in Out of Home Care.

The Pathway to Good Health program operates as a multidisciplinary team consisting of a Paediatrician, Paediatric Nurses, Speech Pathologist, Child & Adolescent Psychologist, and a Clinical Lead clinician.

In this role, you will:

•Conduct comprehensive speech pathology assessments using relevant assessment tools and the production of detailed Health Management Plans for children and young people living in Out of Home Care. 

•Work in partnership and collaborate with the professionals who are supporting the child/family, to provide a timely and developmentally appropriate service and support.  This may include internal and external health professionals and other community team members (e.g. education providers).

•Provide opportunistic education and capacity building with clients and carers to promote speech and language skill development.

•Ensure the standards of the Speech Pathology service provided is based on current best practice in accordance with relevant evidence-based Speech Pathology research and the Speech Pathology Australia - Code of Ethics

Providing client-centred care with a high standard of clinical services and expertise to, children and adolescents and their carers, your day-to-day responsibilities with our Pathway to Good Health program will include:

  • A sound understanding of the effects of childhood trauma and adversity and demonstrated ability to provide trauma informed, trauma responsive and inclusive care.
  • Recommending appropriate speech pathology evidence-based interventions or strategies for managing concerns identified through assessments and discussions with clients, carers, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Working effectively and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment with an aim of improved client outcomes.

To be successful in this role you will bring demonstrated experience working within a multi-disciplinary team and have a proven understanding of the effects of childhood trauma and cumulative harm and a demonstrated ability to provide trauma informed, trauma responsive and inclusive recommendations and care.

 

You will have substantial experience in a similar role within the community health services sector with evidence of successful team development and growth. You will also come with:

  • A practising member of Speech Pathology Australia with Certified Practising Speech Pathologist status (CPSP).  
  • Qualifications and/or Knowledge or Experience in Speech Pathology assessments, and interventions for infants, preschoolers, and school-aged children with developmental delays/disabilities.

 

The fine print

  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check, International Police Check (if applicable), hold a valid WWCC and NDIS Clearance.
  • Full driver license and travel between sites required.
